Princess Pudding

That’s right! For this month I’m going to learn how to bake using the FFXIV Cookbook and the first week’s challenge is Princess Pudding with difficulty level Hard 👩🏻‍🍳 As always, I just had to kick it off with something tough 😅 Afterall it’s not a challenge without a struggle 💪🏻

It’s so exciting because for the last couple of weeks I’ve been watching Japanese bakeries on YouTube and I’m so intrigued by it! How they wake up early in the morning to prepare the dough and all the ingredients they put in it. Not to mention how thorough they are in presentation! It’s a lot of work but they all look so delicious 🤤 Anyhow, I chose Princess Pudding as my first challenge because 1) it’s a small amount and 2) I already have most of the ingredients 😋 There were just a few things I needed to get.

First I had to prepare the ganache filling. That was easy to do but takes a bit of time because of the cooling period.

Now for the cake which required more melted chocolate, highly whisked eggs and sugar, a bit of booze…

Lastly folding in the flour and salt into the mixture and voila! The chocolate cake batter!

Then it was time to prepare the ramekins by buttering it up.

Now to assemble 🤗

Once ready, in they go!

However when it came out, I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to look like this or I messed up… Maybe that’s why it was instructed to invert the rameskin on the plate 😅 *Update: It actually settles when it’s cooled down.

And yes, it looked much better on the other side. With a bit of powdered sugar and berries to pretty up the cake, the Princess Pudding is now COMPLETE! It looks so cute 💕

As for the taste… Delicious 😃 I’m glad it’s small because it’s rich in flavor especially the ganache in the middle. Although I didn’t have whipped cream (or too lazy to whisk the heavy cream 😛), the tart from the berries helped balance the flavor. It’d go really well with ice cream which I have in the fridge. I’ll apply it on the two extras next time 💘

This is actually the first cake I’ve ever baked and I’m thrilled it turned out so well 🥰 Now my boyfriend wants me to make desert every week 😄 It builds up my baking confidence knowing this was considered Hard in difficulty on the cookbook 😁 Oh boy, I’m looking forward to the next one!
